Rehnquist Hospitalized With Cancer in Md.

OK -- do we all get it NOW? It's not theoretical -- they had to trake him.

Uncle Thomas could be the lead singer of the Supremes in January... with 3 or 4 more of Bush's lizard people crawling out from under some rocks to fill the other vacancies...

WASHINGTON - Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, the second-oldest man to preside over the nation's highest court and its premier conservative figure, is undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer.

Rehnquist, 80, underwent a tracheotomy at Bethesda Naval Hospital in suburban Maryland on Saturday, the Supreme Court announced Monday. It said he expects to be back at work next week when the court will next be meeting to hear cases.

Even so, Rehnquist's hospitalization little more than a week before the election gave new prominence to a campaign issue that has been overshadowed by the war on terrorism. The next president is likely to name several justices to a court that has been deeply divided in recent years on issues as varied as abortion and the 2000 election itself...

During a tracheotomy, a tube is inserted into a patient's throat, either to relieve a breathing obstruction or as part of preparation for surgery. The court did not explain his procedure.

And bear in mind -- that incoherent babbling by Bush about Dred Scott -- aside from the fact that he had no idea it WAS a close reading of the constitution --- it was code:

DRED SCOTT MEANS "WE WILL OVERTURN ROE V WADE"

(even tho, ironically, the Dred Scott Decision is more applicable as a precedent to legalizing same-sex marriage than it is to justify federal intervention into the question of a woman's reproductive choices. )

So, no more dithering, oh ye undecideds -- how'd you like to see the totalitarian elements of Patriot Act get decided by a Supreme Court with four justices appointed by the people who pull Bush's strings?

--I live in a blue state, but so what -- if Kerry wins by enough popular votes -- 10 million or so -- even the Supremes won't be able to give it away without civil war.
