Goddamn, but Pete Stark gives us all hope...
Pete Stark, as if in a blast of sudden growth from the autumn rains,
became the first of the Dems to sprout some actual balls (an attribute also known as "backbone"):
(SJ Mercury reprinting article from the Washington Post)
The debate in Congress about children's health insurance was surprisingly bloodless, with only an occasional charge of "socialized medicine" from Republicans or "heartlessness" from Democrats.
Then Rep. Pete Stark, D-Fremont, grumbled at Republicans: "You don't have money to fund the war or children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."
Clips instantly hit YouTube*, and GOP reaction was furious. The National Republican Congressional Committee called it "an outrageous and delusional tantrum."
Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, declared that Stark "dishonors not only the commander in chief, but the thousands of courageous men and women of America's armed forces." He called on Stark to apologize.
The 18-term congressman, however, responded only by calling those who voted to deny children health care "chicken hawks."

And oh, the Republicans -- none of whom EVER made a nasty comment about anyone (at least not about anyone in power, they being the unchallenged masters of "Kiss up, kick down") except maybe just a 12 year old brain-damaged kid not happy that they cut off his med coverage** .. they're SO upset...
"Stark ought to be condemned. He ought to be turned out of office. Someone should inquire if he were under the influence of something at the time he uttered this horrible charge. Maybe it's time to think about afternoons at the dog track for Stark.
Americans getting killed for the president's amusement? And you wonder why political discussion has become so rancorous in this country?
The problem is that Stark isn't the only one who feels that way. It's just that his saying what he said where he said it gives the go-ahead to otherwise marginalized loony Americans to take center stage with the same such garbage
**************
House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio said Stark should apologize, saying,
"Pete Stark's statements on the House floor this afternoon crossed all lines of decency and decorum. As a member of Congress, he should be ashamed. But as a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee - and the current chairman of its Health subcommittee - the Democratic leadership ought to be ashamed as well.
"To claim our men and women in Iraq are serving there for the president's own personal enjoyment - and worse, to suggest he's actually 'amused' by the image of soldiers being killed - represents a crass appeal to the worst, most base elements of our population. It dishonors the continued sacrifice of our troops in the field, and disrespects their family and friends at home who pray for their safe return. The Democratic leadership should denounce these comments immediately, and Mr. Stark should apologize for making them as well."***********BUT ---Rep Stark deserves nothing less..................than two dump trucks of "Bravos!!" for breaking the silence of the Right Wing Cover-up................. It's amazing how well the propaganda machines have brain washed the people into believing that the _hit kicker and Co. have the troops in Irac for any thing else other than back-pocket benefit.
Comments, like John Gibson's and John Boehner's, are living proof of how well they are trained to hide the truth................................Now that the majority of the American Public is aware of the lies regarding our occupation, it's really difficult for Dubya and Company to find a way to gracefully back out of Iraq.

That was a great way to start my morning!
"Please don't talk about the President in a personal way".
Poor Bush.... we might hurt his feelings, meanwhile people are being blown up in Iraq, he doesn't care about their feelings does he?

****************Unfortunately
to make an omelet, you must break some eggs...
This is Stark breaking eggs by slamming them into the bowl -which is what's needed to get the LSM to pay attention to you unless, of course, you are one of our 'patriotic' republicans...
Pull out all stops and say what hurts until it hurts 'em all...

And oh, the Associated Press felt obliged to mention that Pete Stark was the first member of congress to declare himself an atheist .. (because no god fearing person would ever criticize the prez authorizing mass murder in a country where no one ever attacked us...)

We can only hope that this signifies the beginning of an epidemic of balls (and ovaries) sprouting as quickly and as profusely as piles of dog doo on Telegraph Ave.

**Ok, I feel obliged to make a mention of lying motherfuckers, i.e., the Republicans who LOVE to parrot that lie about the SCHIPS Bill: "It will give medical coverage to families making $82,000 a year."
The fact -- SOME STATES (such as New York where things cost a lot more than in states where Uncle Bubba's 9th Grade education in a religious institution qualifies him to be an intellectual) legally will allow SCHIPs recipients to earn more than the 2X poverty income (Poverty being $20,000 a year for a family of four or thereabouts) and actually earn $82,000 a year...
BUT ...
such increase can only be made on a case-by-case basis
AND
EACH REQUEST for that increase MUST BE APPROVED by the Federal Govt.
So, it seems, the reasonable conclusion to make is that -- if intentionally misleading is equivalent to lying (and if you're a Christian, which they are, it is) -- Mssrs Bush, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell and quite a few others qualify for the Golden Blivet Award, being, as is obvious, overstuffed lying sacks of shit themselves.
And what is viewed as outrage is merely what's squirting out of their Blivetosity after being poked with a sharp remark.
