I am listening to a debate asking why a bunch of congressmen and women are virulently opposed to ANY reform of health insurance and medical delivery... is it principle? Is it lobbyists' money?

(Really -- members of congress who act on principle? Imagine what Samuel Beckett could have done with such an idea.. Harold Pinter .. Zero Mostel.)

How about this? A quote from Upton Sinclair pointing to the overwhelmingly likely reason (I LIKE quoting observations from people who are or were smarter than me ... or you, probably):

"It is difficult to get a man to understand something

when his salary depends on not understanding it."
