CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS? WHAT A EUPHEMISM!

I've always been fond of this observation made by John Wilmot, the 2d Earl of Rochester (April 1, 1647 - July 26, 1680)

"Any man who calls things by their rightful name will surely be hanged."

Wilmot was an incredibly vile human, writer of pornographic plays (which today reads like the sort of thing an extraordinarily literate but dirty-minded middle-school boy might write), destroyer of men or women for his own amusement, and such. But he called things by their rightful name and it was only his close friendship with Charles II that kept him from the having the experience of what Francois Villon described as "my neck will know the weight of my ass."

So -- risking the fate so ominously promised by Rochester, I'll get right to the point, one rather important in this time of debate over health care when it is estimated there are Four Healthcare lobbyists right now for each member of the house and senate, and the issue of hundreds of thousands of dollars of campaign contributions made to those members of the house and senate, especially those in key committees:

CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS?!?

BRIBES!
