They seem to always leave out the most important part of what Mr Murtha said...

They're at it again -- trying to diss Rep Murtha, pretend he's not nearly the patriot Monkey Boy with his almost-completed National Guard service was -- trying to make him out as someone with contempt for Marines, like the one he was until he got essential parts blown off... check it out --

Murtha: New Scandal Worse Than Abu Ghraib

By DOUGLASS K. DANIEL Associated Press Writer

May 28,2006 | WASHINGTON -- The fallout from the killing of as many as two dozen Iraqi civilians by Marines could undermine U.S. efforts in Iraq more than the Abu Ghraib prison scandal did, a lawmaker who is a prominent war critic said Sunday.

The shootings last November at Haditha, a city in the Anbar province of western Iraq that has been plagued by insurgents, were covered up, said Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa.

"Who covered it up, why did they cover it up, why did they wait so long?" Murtha said on "This Week" on ABC. "We don't know how far it goes. It goes right up the chain of command."

A bomb rocked a military convoy on Nov. 19, killing a Marine. Marines then shot and killed unarmed civilians in a taxi at the scene and went into two homes and shot other people, according to Murtha, who has been briefed by officials.

Marines then shot and killed unarmed civilians in a taxi at the scene and went into two homes and shot other people, he said...

"I will not excuse murder, and this is what happened," Murtha said. "This investigation should have been over two or three weeks afterward and it should have been made public and people should have been held responsible for it."

Murtha, a former Marine and a prominent critic of Bush administration policies in Iraq, repeated his view that the war in Iraq cannot be won militarily and needs political solutions, which he said were damaged by such incidents involving the U.S.

"This is the kind of war you have to win the hearts and minds of the people," he said. "And we're set back every time something like this happens. This is worse than Abu Ghraib."

But THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT MR MURTHA SAID -- and the one omitted, which makes it look as if he's dissing the troops on Memorial Day -- couldn't have ANY connection with that slime-merchant Karl Roverer, could it? -- is this:

Murtha's PRIMARY point -- that the command has put the troops under so much pressure, unrelieved, keeping them on the line long after their legal committment should be over, is

WHAT CAUSES BREAKDOWNS LIKE THIS ONE -- not venality or murderousness on the part of those Marines, (at least no more than the basic amount needed to take on the job of being a Marine -- under control and under authority and under the chain of command that extends all the way up to Preseident Yamashita ... uh, President Bush) the cause of this sort of thing is the high command -- safe in their bunkers and mansions -- stretching the troops past the breaking point because they have no regard for the men and women they sent in to fight for their political payoff pals.

And the reason? Once again -- and again and again and again -- those people -- Bush, Rove, Cheney, and the rest -- HAVE NO IDEA what it takes to be willing to go out there for your country -- because THEY were all too goddamn precious to answer their draft calls when they came up ... spoiled brat Rec-Room Patriots killing off the men and women who are actually willing to put their lives on the line.

A line from a Patty Griffin song --

"I only live to see you regret/
Everything that you've done."
